TODAYS WORSHIP

A FEW THOUGHTS ON TODAYS READING...

A common mistake in approaching the Bible is spiritualizing something that God presents as fact. Creation as recorded in the Bible is presented as fact, not allegory. Something that must be considered early on in our reading is when the Bible and anything else (science, archaeology, history, etc) seems to contradict one another where does our faith lie? Do we accept science, history, etc. to be the authority in which to interpret the Bible, or do we believe that God and the Bible are the ultimate authority in which to interpret everything else. We must never forget that the first step in becoming a Christian is to repent or rethink.

We come very quickly to statements in the Scripture which cannot be misinterpreted. In Genesis 1:1, we read, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." Notice it doesn't state that God initiated the process, He fully created them. In the six days in which He created everything, we see the recurring phrase, "And God saw that it was good" (Gen 1:10, 1:12, 1:18, 1:21, 1:25). In fact, He concludes His week of creation with the statement in 1:31, "Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good." God indeed made everything perfect, the best that it ever was on earth. We will see that sin is introduced in Genesis 3. It was this sin which corrupted man and all of his creation which is opposed to what evolutionists would like you to believe. They would submit that everything on this earth is in a process of deterioration with everything trending downward, not upward. The word for the day in Hebrew is "yom". This word has different meanings, but we must always use Scripture to interpret Scripture. The word, "yom" is used 2301 times in the Old Testament and each and every time it refers to a 24-hour day. So, for anyone to apply another meaning to this for the sake of evolutionary concept is erroneous.

Also, the word "created" in Genesis 1:1 in Hebrew is "bara" which means creating something out of nothing. Only God can do that, man can only create something out of something, and evolution has no answer how to create something out of nothing. Even Fred Hoyle, the inventor of the Big Bang Theory, eventually came to the conclusion that his theory made no sense because it required an intelligent being to have place the four forces of physics in place before the big bang occurred. For anyone who still struggles with the debate over Creation vs. Evolution, please go to Job chapters 38-41, where God literally presents Job 77 questions from His creation which Job nor any of us could have answered and therefore should abandon any thought in evolution.

The theory of evolution was formulated nearly 100 years before the discovery of DNA and modern genetics. If there was honesty in science, this theory should have destroyed the false science of evolution, but it did not, because evolution is a faith that allows the expulsion of God from society and they will never allow creation to return to popular thought. As adults we have between 70-100 trillion cells in our bodies. Each cell contains 6 feet of tightly coiled DNA. If this DNA was straightened, each of us would have enough DNA to be stretched back and forth between the earth and the sun, 610.9 times. Take this fact along with the evolutionary concept that we moved from one celled organisms to man over millions of years through a process of mutations. The problem with this misstatement is 100% of all mutations take away genetic information. So that the "original" one celled organism would disintegrate over time and not develop into a complex human being. Even the co-discoverer of DNA, Francis Crick, who was an acclaimed atheist concluded later in his life that the complexity of DNA required an intelligent designer. Realize science supports creation, we do not have to abandon thought to accept God. Science is not as objective as scientists would have you believe. There is tremendous bias at all levels, including what the editors of the journals will permit to be presented in their respective journals. Creation science will never be permitted into any of the mainstream scientific journals because it would interfere with their previously constructed rigid view of evolution. Evolution will have you believe that we are nothing more than a chance, random accident without purpose. But the complete opposite is true, we are all lovingly created, genetically distinct individuals formed under the watchful of eyes of the Creator Himself. As we begin our journey through Scripture, may we take comfort in our Creator's love and the uniqueness that He has imparted onto each of us.

THIS WEEKS MEMORY VERSE

Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. ~Matthew 5:11-12

Correction Paul Had for the Church Still Applies Today (touroftruth.com)

These Corinthians, they were falling back into some of their old ways of thinking. And so Paul says, Dear brothers and sisters, when I was with you, I couldn't talk to you as I would to spiritual people. I had to talk to you as though you belong to this world or as though you were infants in Christ. I had to feed you with milk, not solid food, because you weren't ready for anything stronger. And. Guess what? That's my own word, but it says, And you still aren't ready, you are still controlled by your sinful nature. You're jealous of one another and quarrel with each other. Doesn't that prove that you're controlled by your sinful nature? Aren't you living like people of the world? When one of you says, I'm a follower of Paul and another says, I follow Apollos. Aren't you just acting like people of the world? After all, who was Apollos? Who was Paul? We are only God's servants through whom you believed the good news. Each of us did the work that the Lord gave us. I planted the seed in your hearts and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. Paul is saying, essentially, don't you see that both are needed? If you're going to win people to Christ, it has to be simple and pared down to the essentials. But then, if you're going to grow in Christ, there has to be much deeper teaching. You have to go on to deeper things, and it takes the simple presentation of the gospel to plant the seed, but it takes a much deeper rational presentation of Christian truth to make a person grow and be watered. Though all the time, it's only God who enables the whole thing to grow.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6
