TODAYS BIBLE READING

Reading Time: 15-20 Minutes

Leviticus 14

TODAYS WORSHIP

A FEW THOUGHTS ON TODAYS READING...

Those who teach the Bible, have a responsibility to boldly proclaim God's Word and also to remain solid students of His Word, leaning on it for proper interpretation. When the Bible is at odds with a person, a denomination, etc. the Bible is right, and the individual is wrong. As God's representatives, we must face that role with absolute humility and submission to His authority. If not, we risk making the mistake of misrepresenting God.

As we go through the book of Leviticus, we can see how integral the high priest was in carrying out God's law. As we go through Leviticus 13-15, over and over again, it is the priest who inspects the wound, the hair, the house, etc. If he determines that it is unclean, it is unclean. This profound responsibility was made evident when Aaron's sons offered "profane fire before the Lord" and were immediately killed as we read in Leviticus 10:2-3. There are 613 laws in the Levitical law, This book became their manual. The laws were so intricate that God wanted to make sure that the priests continually went back to their manual and interpreted things through its eyes rather than their own.

All of us who are called God's people have a responsibility. We are God's representatives, God's ambassadors (Philippians 3:20), God's priests and own special people (1 Peter 2:9), and we are not to take that position lightly. Like the priests back then we must continually approach matters in humility. If we don't know an answer, then say that. Like the priests we must continually explore our manual (the Bible) for answers. We have a world of those who do not believe in the One True God, and they look at us as His representatives to see if He is worth exploring or not. This might not be a position that you asked for, but the minute you accepted Christ's invitation, this is the position that you accepted. We read in Colossians 4:5-6, "Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one." Those of us who have walked with Him for many years must diligently keep our eyes on His Word and not trust in our own wisdom, losing that humility. Those who accept His invitation but choose to find every excuse in the world why they are not in His Word, are without excuse in God's eyes, for ignorance to God's Word is not an authentic excuse. So, fellow priests, ambassadors, and representatives may we wash ourselves daily in the entirety of His Word and receive His counsel so that we can effectively reach out to a world that doesn't know Him. “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.’ Colossians 3:16

THIS WEEKS MEMORY VERSE

Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. ~Matthew 26:41

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6
