How Could A Good God Send Nice People To Hell?

Updated: Apr 20, 2019

This question tends to assume that everyone wants to go to Heaven; which, is in fact, a lie. Not everyone wants to go to Heaven, because Heaven is simply the presence of Jesus. There are people that have been running from Jesus their entire life. They’ve heard the Gospel and what He so lovingly and willingly did for those who would accept, believe, and follow Him; and yet, they continued to go about their own way of living.

Hell is a place that shows that man is free and that God is love. God gives a person the free-will to choose Him or reject Him. God is willing to honor and respect our decision of which we are freely given the choice to decide. No one is forced to love God, because that by definition would be rape. Forced love is rape. We are not robots pre-programmed to act a certain way. God gives us the ability to love Him, or go our own way and love ourselves and our desires.

Remember, Hell is separation from God. If you would rather do what you want to do now in this life, you will end up reaping what you sow for an eternity. Now, there are most certainly kind individuals who are not Christians on this earth; that is not the point of discussion. The reality, however, is that ““None is righteous, no, not one”” (Romans 3:10). None of us are perfect and we all are sinners. We may not have murdered someone, but we have allowed lust to linger in our hearts. Some of us may have never lusted, but have lied. We all fall short, and we all are in need of a Savior. Thanks be to the Lord God Almighty for sending Jesus Christ 2,000+ years ago to provide a way.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16 ESV). Those who have never heard the Gospel, I would encourage you to read the Book of John in the New Testament Bible. Christianity is not a religion, it is a person; and there is much hope, peace and joy to be found in Jesus Christ. As with any genuine believer, I am being changed and made into a new person each day; and it is all by His grace and mercy. Know that Christ can do the same for you.

"You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart" (Jeremiah 29:13 NIV).

I live in Belgium, which is a catholic country. People believe in a God who is good, so as long as you behave well, you are friendly, you are sure to go to Heaven. They go to Church at Christmas, Palm Sunday to get as many palms possible and at Easter. They never talk about God nor satan. I think many pray at home, for the children, etc... They ignore you can buy a Bible in a library. A "spiritual" chat resumes in "it will be all right, believe me". That's the country I live in.
