“No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, Who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.” John 1:18 NKJV
The fullness of God is too great for sight, too wonderful for word, too lofty to understand.
The fullness of God is too great for sight, too wonderful for word, too lofty to understand. The Triune God collectively is the greatest Being. No other entity, being, or creation ascends beyond the One Who is High and Lifted Up.
When it comes to our viewpoint of God, we tend to think very lowly of Him. Our perceptions are distorted by either what we desire God to be or they are brought low by our negligence to truly understand God in the way that He should be understood.
We know that “God, Who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, Whom He has appointed heir of all things, through Whom also He made the worlds; Who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they” (Hebrews 1:1-4 NKJV).
Christ is the exact imprint of God. When we stand before Christ on that Final Day and meet Him face to face, we will be looking into the true face of God, but not the full face of God. The fullness of Deity dwells within Christ, but God in His fullness is not just Christ. We know that God is Triune. God is Three in One: The Heavenly Father, the Son (the Lord Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit. Christ is equally God, but He is not the entirety of God alone. There are still Two other Persons that we tend to neglect; namely, the Heavenly Father and the Holy Spirit.
We must remember this when we desire to gaze upon the awesome majesty and beauty of God. Christ is the exact imprint and expressed image of God, but there is still a greater height of sight in viewing God by which we know not. For Christ even says, ““Not that anyone has seen the Father, except He Who is from God; He has seen the Father”” (John 6:46 NKJV).
We cannot take in the fullness of God because only God can see, understand, know, experience, and live in the fullness of Himself.
God, in His Majesty, cannot be fully contained or fully understood. His ways are not our ways. His Wisdom is too magnificent for us. If we were to see the entirety of God we would instantly be annihilated. For we do not have the mental faculties, power, or ability to take in the entirety of all that God is. We cannot take in the fullness of God because only God can see, understand, know, experience, and live in the fullness of Himself. That is why He is the Self-Existent and Self-Sufficient One. That is why only Christ has seen the fullness of God, because He Himself is God.
As we meditate upon this, we must also understand that God “alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, Whom no man has seen or can see, to Whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen” (1 Timothy 6:16 NKJV). No man can see God in His fullness because He dwells in Unapproachable Light.
God, being boundless and limitless, is both infinite and transcendent. The fullness of God has no boundaries or ends.
There is a boundary that cannot be understood or crossed when it comes to God. For God, being boundless and limitless, is both infinite and transcendent. The fullness of God has no boundaries or ends. God alone is the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End (Revelation 22:13). This includes being infinite within all realms.
God is the Unbegotten Beginning and Endless End of the physical and metaphysical realm. He alone dwells eternally in the Holiest of Realms.
God is the Unbegotten Beginning and Endless End of the physical and metaphysical realm. He alone dwells eternally in the Holiest of Realms. God Himself is the Undimensioned-Dimension where all dimensions are brought into existence and exist. “Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God” (Psalm 90:2 NKJV).
God dwells in Unapproachable Light. This Ineffable Light consists of unadulterated purity, eternal perfection, undefiled sight, uncorrupted, true and real existence.
There is a Dimension that we can refer to as "The Forever Unknown". It is here where the fullness of God resides. It is a place that only God inhabits and dwells. Not even the holiest of saints or the cherubim and seraphim can enter into this place where God alone dwells. For God dwells in Unapproachable Light. This Ineffable Light consists of unadulterated purity, eternal perfection, undefiled sight, uncorrupted, true and real existence. It is only God that hides behind this Light. For just as the Ark of the Covenant could not be touched, lest man would die, so too is this location that is unknown to man. For it exists in a dimension that is higher than we can conceive. The breadth of its hidden secrecies and mysteries is only known to God.
Only Christ, the Mediator between God and man may visit this unimaginable realm that consists of that which cannot even be described or put into words. For Christ alone “is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church, Who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence” (Colossians 1:15:18 NKJV).
In 1 Kings 8:27 (NKJV), Solomon prays, “But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You. How much less this temple which I have built!” (1 Kings 8:27 NKJV). Not even the Heaven of heavens can contain God! For God is outside all that He creates.
God is timeless, spaceless, and immaterial. He is the Transcendent One Who has no bounds! Forever He dwells outside the very thing He creates.
God is timeless, spaceless, and immaterial. He is the Transcendent One Who has no bounds! Forever He dwells outside the very thing He creates. We know that “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1 NKJV). We know that after Judgment, there will be a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth will pass away (Revelation 21:1).
Since God is the Creator and Maker of all things, He is also the Provider and Sustainer of all things. Since God is the Provider and Sustainer of all things, He is also Transcendently beyond all things!
Since God is the Creator and Maker of all things, He is also the Provider and Sustainer of all things. Since God is the Provider and Sustainer of all things, He is also Transcendently beyond all things! His Ascension is Unassailable! His Might is Unattainable! His Beauty is Unseeable! He is God Almighty, the Holy One of Israel, Thee Great I AM.
As Christ will dwell in Heaven and be the Light of Heaven, the Heavenly Father still resides outside of Heaven itself!
“The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light” (Revelation 21:23 NKJV). O what glory to know that as Christ will dwell in Heaven and be the Light of Heaven, the Heavenly Father still resides outside of Heaven itself! Who can understand such knowledge that is too overwhelming? Who can think beyond that which we know, but have yet to experience? Who can think more deeply than what God knows and beyond what He reveals?
Eternity is not enough time to understand the Infinitude and Transcendence of God. God will forever reveal new things and deeper revelations to us once in Heaven, but there will forever be an infinite supply more to grow in and learn.
Forever, we shall truly know God when we are born again. Forever, we shall never fully know God. Eternity is not enough time to understand the Infinitude and Transcendence of God. God will forever reveal new things and deeper revelations to us once in Heaven, but there will forever be an infinite supply more to grow in and learn. Only God can continue to do so throughout all of eternity, while refraining from revealing all that there is of Himself, His creative power, and that which eyes have yet to see and may never see; that which words have yet to describe and may never describe.
For Paul declares in 2 Corinthians 12:1-4 (NKJV): “It is doubtless not profitable for me to boast. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord: I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago—whether in the body I do not know, or whether out of the body I do not know, God knows—such a one was caught up to the third heaven. And I know such a man—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows— how he was caught up into Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.”
One day we shall be as Isaiah and declare, “I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one cried to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!”” (Isaiah 6:1-3 NKJV).
Blessed Art Thou, God in Heaven, Who made all things, Who immanently dwells within all things, and forever remains outside all things.
Blessed Art Thou, God in Heaven, Who made all things, Who immanently dwells within all things, and forever remains outside all things.
PRAYER
Triune God, the fullness of Who You are and what You can do is too great for us to comprehend. You are Mighty and Awesome! Your Majesty is Beautiful, Your glory is Inexpressible! You are the Great I AM Who revealed Himself through the Lord Jesus Christ. God, we thank You that You descended from heights of which we know not, in order to provide a way of salvation and enter into fellowship with You. We praise You, O God of Pure Essence, Transcendent Wisdom, Infinite Power, and Ineffable Holiness. Touch our hearts and bless us with greater knowledge of You, the Holy One of Israel. For You alone are God. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
